Saves time and effort with automated configuration tasks and intuitive VLAN management as a standalone or WhatsUp Gold plug-in solution
LEXINGTON, Mass. ─ July 12, 2011 ─ Ipswitch Inc.’s Network Management Division, developer of the WhatsUp Gold suite of innovative IT management solutions, today announced that WhatsUp Gold WhatsConfigured is now available as a standalone product as well as a plug-in for its flagship IT management suite. WhatsConfigured version 3.0 also has several new enhancements for busy IT professionals to make configuration and Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) changes faster and easier to implement, monitor, manage and store. WhatsConfigured 3.0 will be on display at Ipswitch’s booth (#1761) at the Cisco Live conference in Las Vegas this week.
WhatsConfigured enables the discovery, alerting and management of even the most complex wired and wireless network environments. In addition, it simplifies and automates device configuration, VLAN and change management in a single comprehensive solution. Users can easily backup, restore configuration files, build configuration templates, add new VLANs, or copy VLANs from one device to another, and monitor and receive automatic alerts on configuration changes or policy violations.
WhatsConfigured now provides additional functionality and enhancements for mid-to-large enterprises
- Backup and restore configurations on any device – write and debug scripts for any vendor’s device using an integrated visual script debugger
- SNMP based VLAN management – allows VLANs to be configured across multiple devices using a single intuitive interface
- Flexible configuration templates – easily configure devices, users and log-in credentials from a configuration backup
- IP/MAC address finder – locate devices on the network by IP or MAC address
- Topology mapping – generate maps showing network topology
“With WhatsConfigured now available as a standalone product, organizations can automate configuration management, and standardize and implement policies even faster, with automatic discovery and topology mapping of every device in even the most disparate virtual network,” said Brian Kap, manager of software development at Ipswitch Inc.’s Network Management Division. “Configuration and change management is an important part of protecting your network and IT assets. WhatsConfigured allows IT managers to automate common tasks for maintaining and documenting network device configurations, ensuring accuracy while saving time.”
