New in Version 7
Version 7 of IMail Server offers many new features. One new benefit is that IMail Server has added a new licensing option. Licensing is now available in the following three configurations:
- Up to 250 users
- Up to 1,000 users
- Unlimited users
User Interface
- New Web Messaging interface and functions. See "Web Messaging Enhancements for Users".
- New Web Calendaring capability, which is accessible through any browser.
- Remote management capability added to IMail Administrator console (IAdmin). In addition, it has an improved system management interface.
- New Web Options tab for each host, provides for domain level management of SSL, IMail Web Calendaring and the Spell Checker. This enables an administrator to enable these features on a domain level rather than globally.
Services
- New SSL authentication and user lockout policies create a more secure method of sending and receiving e-mail.
- Determination of whether an incoming message is too large is now based on total size of all mailboxes in a user's account.
- Support for APOP authorization when user logs on to their mail account (or into a sub-mailbox) using POP3.
- For monitoring of services, the administrator can now set the time-out value, in addition to how often to check the service.
- SMTP no longer has a restriction with nested aliases (what many knew as the "50-alias bug".)
Web Messaging Administration
- Enhanced security options which allow greater flexibility to manage user security levels. Administrators can either force users to use SSL, give users the option of using SSL , or not provide the option at all. For added security, IMail Server can now temporarily suspend a user if they fail a login too many times.
- Enhanced ability to modify Web Messaging templates.
- New template set with .gif and .cgi files; old template set still supported.
- Support for "include" tags that let you include a file in your web templates.
- Enhanced support for definable button text (butontxt.ini) for different domains.
- New ParseExtensions Utility provides the ability to include IMAIL tags in your personal files. Use ParseExtensions to parse the IMail tags for any included file, regardless of its file extension.
- Web Messaging enhancement that allows an administrator to view server statistics and real-time server activity, such as the number of users logged in, and the amount of data sent and received.
- Improved administration capabilities to match IMail Administrator for lists, users and domains.
- Now uses Cascading Styles Sheets (CSS) in order to provide easily alterable font styles, and quick click features. The HTML code follows DOM level 1 specs, and CSS level 1 specs.
