Viewing the Basic IMail Server Configuration

In the left panel, select "localhost" to view the IMail Server configuration.

You can modify only the Gate Host or the Default Host properties.

The Gate Host box displays the name of another host to send mail to for further delivery when that mail cannot be delivered directly to the destination host. This can be used in conjunction with Send all remote mail through gateway on the SMTP tab to force delivery of mail through the gateway host. This is useful for dial-up connections.

Since IMail Server should be able to reach all hosts directly, this field should typically be left blank. See "Chapter 8: SMTP Server".

The Default Host box displays the host name to which mail should be delivered if the original recipient address contains only a user ID without a host name, and that user ID is not found on the sender's host. Normally, this field should be left blank or set to "localhost". Otherwise, mail will be sent to userID@DefaultHost, which may not be the intended recipient. This field can be useful when multiple systems are required to work as one system.

Note: Setting this option incorrectly may cause mail to be sent to unintended recipients.
