Ipswitch, Inc. Reaches One Million Dollar Mark in Corporate Giving
Company Named One of Top Charitable Contributors in Massachusetts for Second Year in a Row
Lexington, Massachusetts - Ipswitch, Inc., a leading developer of network monitoring, messaging and secure managed file transfer solutions, announced today that it has achieved a corporate philanthropic milestone by reaching one million dollars in giving since the company was founded nearly 16 years ago. The milestone coincides with the Boston Business Journal’s recently announced research on the state of giving and philanthropy in Massachusetts with Ipswitch being named as one of the commonwealth’s top charitable contributors for 2006.
“It is an honor to be recognized for the consistent, collective efforts of our employees and our company,” said Roger Greene, CEO, Ipswitch. “Giving back to the global community where we do business is something I’ve always believed in and it is a core principle in our corporate culture. Ipswitch has consistently given of our time, expertise, funds and equipment so we can positively invest in the community around us.”
Innovation in Corporate Philanthropy Programs
Michelle Hayes, director of human resources, explained the company’s giving strategy which focuses on active employee participation, product donations and cash donations based on a budget of 5% a year of the company’s profits. “Our community investment is aimed at nurturing a sense of community among our customers, employees, business partners and geographical stakeholders where we encourage people to be concerned about one another and to leverage existing community resources.”
Ipswitch supports the fight against childhood poverty and last year’s Walk Against Childhood Poverty raised $75,000 for non-profit organizations working to end childhood poverty.
Ipswitch’s international community-based initiatives include collaboration with CARE in Ecuador to support the Youth for Life Program (PDF). Initiatives also included collaborations with Unipalm in the UK to support Save the Children UK, with Infinigate Deutschland GmbH in Germany to support Plan International, and with IPvista in France to support L'enfant Bleu-Enfance Maltraite.
Ipswitch is also committed to the following programs designed to nurture and support the unique passion and interests of its employees:
- Ipswitch matches employees dollar for dollar whenever they make a donation to charity. When an employee is directly involved in a wide range of community activities; including community and family oriented events, walk-a-thons, bike rides, golf outings, etc., Ipswitch donates $250 towards the event.
- Ipswitch makes a $500 donation to a child welfare organization of the employee’s choice when an employee becomes a parent through birth or adoption.
- Upon every employee's first, third, sixth, and ninth anniversary with the company, Ipswitch makes a donation to the employee's community organization of choice.
Philanthropy is Core to Ipswitch’s Culture
Community involvement is an integral part of Ipswitch's culture and values. At the heart of its commitment is the recognition that the vitality of the company is linked to the health of its communities. “Ipswitch believes that our communities cannot flourish unless we invest in their future,” Hayes continued. “The Ipswitch mission statement includes the objectives to be socially responsible through philanthropy, community service and the ways the company operates.”
The Boston Business Journal’s corporate giving award was presented to Roger Greene for a second year in a row at the Corporate Philanthropy Summit on September 6, 2007. Additionally, over the years Ipswitch has been honored countless times for its philanthropy work – including being awarded the New England TechCitizenship Award and the CyberCitzen of the Year by Mass High Tech.
