Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold Premium Outshines Network Management Rivals in Competitive CRNtech Product Bake-Off
WhatsUp Gold Beats Out the Competition in All Major Categories
Lexington, Massachusetts - August 13, 2007 - Ipswitch, Inc., a leading developer of network monitoring, messaging and managed file transfer solutions, today announced that WhatsUp Gold v11 Premium Edition has won the competitive product bake-off from CRNtech, one of the most respected computer reseller industry publications. WhatsUp Gold won first place out of leading network management solutions based on its features and capabilities and was recognized for its ability to allow a high level of customization in reports and management dashboards.
CRN's Test Center engineers compiled a list of the top three leading network management products that they deemed suitable for small-to-midsize businesses. They took a careful look at the products and their potential for increasing VARs profitability. All software solutions included troubleshooting tools, network topology mapping and management capabilities. Engineers rated each software package on the following criteria: features, ease of deployment, scalability, support and integration capabilities.
"WhatsUp Gold Premium v11 earned a first-place finish for its robust features, strong troubleshooting capabilities and comprehensive reports," said CRN's Technical Editor, Fahmida Y. Rashid. "Engineers were particularly impressed with its feature set, price/performance and integration capabilities, giving it top marks across those three categories."
Engineers tested the products on a heterogeneous network consisting of four Linux servers, one Microsoft Windows 2003 server, two workstations running Windows 2000 and XP, one networked Hewlett-Packard printer and two Cisco Systems Linksys switches. Toward the end of the test, an Apple MacBook was connected to the network for the software tools to discover and add to their databases. "We have seen an exceptionally high rate of growth for our WhatsUp Gold product over the past 18 to 24 months. This growth has been driven by the expansion of our reseller and distribution channels in the US," said Gary Shottes, vice president of sales for Ipswitch. "This bake off further validates the strength of WhatsUp and the competitive advantage it provides the channel to fuel their growth and profitability."
