Lexington, MA,  November 25, 2002 Ipswitch, Inc., a developer of leading Internet software, announced today it has been named a 2002 New England TechCitizenship Company by Mass High Tech, the journal of New England technology, and Boston law firm Hale and Dorr LLP for the second straight year. The TechCitizenship Awards are presented annually to the region’s top technology companies that have demonstrated a commitment to giving back to the community. Ipswitch was recognized for the more than $175,000 donated in cash and products to community organizations during 2001.

“The New England TechCitizenship Awards is an annual program to honor companies in the technology and innovation sector that have demonstrated their corporate philanthropy. This program takes into account all the ways companies choose to help strengthen their communities in an effort to inspire and educate others,” said Mark Pillsbury, publisher at Mass High Tech. “Companies that exceed a certain percentage of revenues donated, or exceed a certain total value of donations, are honored. We remain optimistic that the generosity of New England technology companies will continue to be recognized.”

Ipswitch’s corporate philanthropy program is part of a corporate mission where Ipswitch commits a portion of profits – 5 percent in 2002 - to community investment programs. By the end of this year, Ipswitch will have donated nearly $200,000 in cash and products to 22 community organizations. This includes $15,000 donated to employees’ charities of choice to recognize their third anniversary with Ipswitch and $2,000 donated to celebrate the birth of Ipswitch employees’ children. Ipswitch also commits monetary donations through caused-based philanthropy programs. Earlier this month, Ipswitch kicked off a charitable Web event, called “WS_FTP-a-thon,” expected to raise nearly $15,000 for Big Brothers of Mass Bay.

“We remain focused on supporting our communities. Community service is linked to our values at Ipswitch and is integral to our mission as a company,” said Roger C. Greene, Ipswitch’s president and founder. “Now, more than ever, communities need our help. As a business leader, we are in a privileged position to provide it.”

Mass High Tech’s third annual New England TechCitizenship Awards breakfast was held at the Museum of Science in Boston on Friday, November 22, 2002. Ipswitch was among the 15 community service leaders honored. Companies selected were judged on the extent of their cash contributions, in-kind donations (products and services), volunteer donations and stock donations in 2001.
