Position Title: Quality Assurance Engineer - Network Monitoring
Department: Research and Development
Location: Atlanta, GA
Primary Objectives: The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for assisting the QA Team Manager with coordinating, implementing, and executing the product testing efforts. This includes: design, develop, and review test plans. Create detailed test cases, execute manual and automated testing, document testing results, and managing defects. The Quality Assurance Engineer will also assist with defining test strategy, researching new technologies, and training/mentoring other team members. A high degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Work autonomously to design, develop, and maintain detailed test cases
- Review and give feedback on requirements and design
- Peer review of test plans and test cases
- Participate in sizing and planning exercises
- Accurately estimate tasks and assignments
- Research and answer escalated issues from Tech Support
- Actively support customers during Technical Preview Programs
- Maintain the technical test environment
- Work closely with project team to design and implement solid test coverage
- Analyze, and report on test execution results
- Attend project meetings and provide technical expertise as required
- Enter defects into the defect tracking database
- Accurately track and report testing progress and daily status
- Take on special projects (Setting up servers, test data, research, etc.)
- Mentor and train other team members
- Subject matter expert on the product and related technologies
- Research new testing technologies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
- B.A. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 2+ years experience in the Software Quality Assurance industry or equivalent
- Microsoft Operating System experience
- Experience with VMware ESX
- Experience with MS Hyper-V
- Extensive SNMP knowledge and experience
- Experience configuring and managing Wireless Access Points
- Router/Switch configuration and management experience
- Experience with NetFlow and sFlow
- Experience in developing and maintaining test plans and test cases
- Extensive knowledge and experience with test automation and testing tools
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess extensive knowledge of hardware and software environments
- Protocol testing/troubleshooting experience at the packet level
- In depth protocol expertise to include: TCP/IP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, LDAP, DNS, SNMP, HTTP, SSL, etc.
- Solid understanding of Windows networking and administration
- Problem solver that can work both independently and as a member of a team
- Scripting experience using one or more of the following: VBScript, DelphiScript, JScript, C++Script or C#Script a plus
