During the past year, we shared news of our expanded partner program and new partner web portal, reinforcing our commitment to the channel.

Today, we’re very excited to share news that our suite of MOVEit solutions will now be made available for sale through North American distributor Tech Data.

“Adding MOVEit to their portfolio ensures that our partners will have a strategic offering to meet the evolving needs of their customers.” said Gary Shottes, president, Ipswitch File Transfer.

“Businesses of all sizes are looking to VARs to support their security and compliance needs, and Tech Data and Ipswitch are working together to ensure that VARs have access to the support they need to add the MOVEit solutions to their offerings.” said Stacy Nethercoat, vice president at Tech Data.

Our channel partners will continue to be a critical component of the Ipswitch File Transfer worldwide sales team, providing customers with advisory and consultative solutions.  Please do visit our partner webpage to find a local Distributor or Reseller.

When interviewing job candidates, I’m always on the lookout for dedicated, motivated, passionate people that relish in rolling up their sleeves and doing whatever it takes to get the job done.  Why?  Because a little bit of chutzpah goes a long way towards being a successful and productive employee.

But can employees “going above and beyond” backfire and result in severe damage to a company?

Unfortunately, yes, they can.

In his guest blog post on LastWatchdog, Gary Shottes, President of Ipswitch File Transfer, describes an example of how hard-working employees are causing new security and legal liability implications that organizations need to carefully consider when deciding what tools to provide people with.

“Highly-motivated workers are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, with or without IT.  Employees, whose job requires them to send information to colleagues, partners, vendors or customers around the globe, have literally thousands of file transfer options.

If IT fails to provide employees with a fast and easy way to share information, they will take matters into their own hands, even if that means using technology that’s not sanctioned by IT. They may use a personal webmail account, smartphones, USB drive, or even transfer data via Facebook and LinkedIn.”

Combining that increasingly familiar scenario with some recent survey data indicating that over 80% of IT executives lack visibility into files moving both internally and externally drives home the scary point that there’s a big security hole in many companies…. And organizations need to be careful that employees can’t crawl through it, even if it’s with the best of intentions.

Fortunately, there are some great tools out there to arm employees with a quick, easy-to-use and secure way to share information with other people, both inside and outside the company — While at the same time provide the company with the critical visibility, management and enforcement it needs to protect sensitive and confidential information.  This is one situation where it makes a lot of sense to lead the horse to water & make it drink.

Word of today’s public announcement that Ipswitch has acquired MessageWay Solutions is already starting to spread, and fast.  Whether you’re an Ipswitch customer or employee, industry expert, or just learning about the Managed File Transfer space one thing is clear – The MFT industry is evolving and growing worldwide, both in strategic importance and pure volume.

We’ve seen greater emphasis on managing and controlling file processing behind the firewall…. And witnessed customers and prospects describing their need for an MFT solution that includes some B2B and EDI attributes.

Ipswitch’s acquisition of MessageWay creates the industry’s most powerful and complete suite of Managed File Transfer solutions with robust, highly scalable advanced file services that continues where MFT has traditionally left off – at the edge of the network.

Ipswitch File Transfer takes pride in the fact that our solutions are installed and configured quickly by customers.  A key differentiator of ours in the marketplace is that our solutions are deployed much quicker than other vendor products, resulting in our customers seeing very rapid time-to-value from their investment.

However, we’ve been getting requests from some customers and prospects asking for assistance in either deploying or customizing their Ipswitch File Transfer solution – Not because doing it themselves would be overwhelming, overly complicated or time-consuming, rather they simply don’t have the internal resources or expertise to do it themselves.

As a result, Ipswitch File Transfer is pleased to announce the launch of our new portfolio of Professional Services offering for new and existing customers which complement our innovative suite of secure and managed file transfer solutions.

One of the most frequently asked questions that I have fielded throughout my career as both a sales person and as an executive has been  “What makes your product different from everyone else’s?” or “How is your company different?” I generally see the response go one of two ways. Either the respondent looks like a deer in the head lights stunned by the simple question or they start to talk. And talk, and talk … to the point where you have no idea what they said.

At Ipswitch it is a real simple answer – it is “time to value”. We enable users (people and/or companies) to start using and receiving the benefit of our software as soon as they download it!  It is a very basic concept that goes back to the beginning of our company almost 20 years ago – build software that is easy to install and use that solves everyday problems. Build software that does what it says it will do – simply, reliably and intuitively. Provide support, when needed, the same way.

Today, companies are under tremendous pressure to cut costs, to do more with less and to leverage the limited resources available to them to accelerate their return on investment.  Truly delivering on time to value enables our customers to not only survive, but to thrive under these conditions.   It is why we have grown substantially over the past two years of economic turmoil.   Time to value is a timeless value, one that we embrace as much today as we did when we started the company.  And, time to value is a value that millions of our customers share.
