LUV2WUG Winner Announcement! -Network ‘Detective’ Tim Walsh Uses WhatsUp Gold to Investigate Network Catastrophes

| April 12, 2011 | Network Monitoring

We are so excited to announce that the winner of our inaugrual LUV2WUG video contest is Tim Walsh, senior IT architect at the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Generating Station in Bridgman, Michigan. Tim’s video illustrated how he used WhatsUp Gold to cut out patch panel mistakes that had led to user frustrations in the past. With WhatsUp Gold he was able to completely review his network and identify which ports had not been used for 30 days, and then clean up his network infrastructure and patch cables to maintain user uptime.

The LUV2WUG contest encouraged customers to submit a concept for a video around how they used WhatsUp Gold, benefits from it, and unique use-cases. “The animation of the winning entry had a great style to it and showed a great every-day benefit of WhatsUp Gold to a network or IT manager, being able to track your network connections over a time period to answer those nagging little questions like whether the port is actually still in use,” said respected network industry commentator and panellist Jon Howell.

There were a lot of very interesting and funny entries to the LUV2WUG contest – selecting the winner wasn’t easy.  Stay tuned for future contests like this coming your way! And, congratulations Tim!
