Position Title: Senior Product Manager – Network Management
Department: Research and Development
Location: Atlanta, GA or Lexington, MA - Location TBD
Primary Objectives: Responsible for Ipswitch's network monitoring product line (WhatsUp). The product management function requires an important balance between business and technology excellence to help guide the company’s product direction. The position is very dynamic and the individual must be comfortable with frequent multi-tasking between technical, strategic, marketing and planning activities. Working in close partnership with the President of the Division, Development, Technical Support, Marketing, and Sales, the Senior Product Manager will define new features that meet market needs, assist in establishing product requirements and functionality, and provide technical marketing support for key initiatives.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Develop and implement the strategic plan for the product.
- Develop, design and define business plans.
- Driving force behind the inception, planning, development and delivery of new products to market and managing releases of mature products.
- Key areas of responsibility include:
- Software feature definition
- Profit and Loss (P&L) analysis
- Product requirements development (PRD’s)
- Contribution to product positioning and business partnership efforts
- Product pricing, licensing, and packaging
- Managing vendor relationships
- Market analysis including target segments, competitive analysis, and industry trends
- Maintain Product roadmap
- Monitor product line profitability, market performance, quality market trends and consumer trends.
- Identify, analyze and evaluate new product related business opportunities.
- Communicate with senior management on the business and technical performance of the product.
- Work closely with Product Marketing to ensure that product strategy aligns with product marketing strategy
- Travel between Atlanta and Boston as well as to various customers
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Yes. This position requires working with a diverse team across Ipswitch in two locations, Massachusetts and Georgia.
Education and/or Experience
- BA/BS degree in a Business or technical discipline; MBA preferred
- A minimum of 5+ years product management experience with proven track record of success
- 7-10 years professional/corporate software experience specifically with releasing commercial software to the market
- Proven ability to effectively negotiate and communicate across teams
- Strategic product planning and go-to-market skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven combination of technical and business skills
- Experience in networking management/monitoring tools a plus
- Experience working in an Agile development environment a plus
