Ipswitch, Inc. Joins Industry-Leading Retail Commerce Security Alliance

Leading Security Providers Form Partnership to Advise on Security Best Practices

Lexington, Massachusetts - May 21, 2007 - Ipswitch, Inc., a leading developer of network management, secure file transfer and messaging solutions, today announced its participation in the Payment Card Industry Security Vendor Alliance (PCI SVA).  As one of the first members of the alliance, Ipswitch will work with the other member organizations to develop clear and effective guidelines for the retail business community to help them achieve effective and robust security policies and processes to protect their customers’ financial data.

The PCI SVA was formed to work with the payment card industry -- including merchants, banks, payment processors and point-of-sale vendors - to provide expert guidance to assist them in more easily and effectively implementing the PCI Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).  The members of the PCI SVA view the PCI DSS as the best available framework to guide an organization in how to protect sensitive data and reduce the risk of costly security breaches.

“Ipswitch has an established and well-earned reputation in the marketplace as a company that provides outstanding security products to our customers,” said Hugh Garber, product marketing manager at Ipswitch.  “As part of the Security Vendor Alliance, we will utilize our experience and expertise in electronic data security to provide guidance to the payment card industry and help it move to a more reliable, more secure future.”

Ipswitch’s WS_FTP Professional and WS_FTP Server applications have revolutionized the Secure File Transfer landscape with industry-leading security capabilities. With support for secure SSL and SSH protocols, 256-bit AES transport encryption, OpenPGP file encryption, SHA-512 file integrity, Digital Certificate Management, and strong password policies, Ipswitch’s Secure File Transfer products enable members of the payment card industry and other companies with responsibility over private data to move and share that information freely and securely without endangering their customer’s personal information.

“Due to the vast leaps in technology that have made commerce faster, easier and more accessible, today so much of the world’s business is conducted electronically,” added Garber.  “Along with the other members of this alliance, Ipswitch will help guarantee that all of our financial data is safe and secure.”
