Ipswitch Names Alessandro Porro to Key International Sales Position
Seasoned SMB Software Seller to Join Ranks of Senior Managers
Responsible for Driving Profitability in Growing Markets
Lexington, Massachusetts - June 30, 2006 - Ipswitch, a leading developer of network management, messaging and file transfer solutions, today announced that Alessandro Porro has been promoted to the position of Sales Director - Latin America (MLSA) and Asia Pacific (APAC). In his new role, Porro, a 13-year veteran of international sales, will be responsible for business development, strategic product direction, and marketing planning for a team in a region crucial to the company’s growth strategy.
“Globally, SMBs have increased their IT budgets at a rate that has outstripped inflation,” said Gary Shottes, vice president of sales for Ipswitch. “It’s a trend that we expect to continue, especially in Brazil, India, Greater China Region, Korea, Chile, Argentina, Taiwan and Australia. Throughout his career, Alessandro has demonstrated creativity and the ability necessary to lead, grow and strengthen international sales programs. I have no doubt that he will apply his skills and energy to advancing our overall sales efforts in his new capacity. One of things we are most excited about is the launch of a completely revamped Worldwide Channel Recruitment, Certification and Training Program that will be unveiled shortly.”
Porro joined Ipswitch in 2004, as international account manager for MLSA and APAC, bringing 13 years of experience in international sales, in the manufacturing, commodities, and IT sectors. Prior to that, he spearheaded Salem, Mass.-based McCue Corporation’s international sales efforts. Previously, he worked in Hamburg, Germany, for ASM International GmbH, and then in São Paulo Brazil, for Lemax do Brasil, always in international sales.
“The key element of Ipswitch’s success has been its ability to build solutions specifically for organizations that require minimal IT resources to install, manage and use,” Porro said. “I am honored to lead a passionate and committed international sales team, dedicated to satisfying the needs of SMBs and larger companies while building global brand recognition, sales and profitability for Ipswitch.”
