Configuring Rules
The first step in configuring the use of Rules, is to create a rule for the specific event you want to configure.
- Enter the following information to configure the rule.
File Mask. Enter the file name or extension of the files you want to monitor with this rule. Multiple entries must be separated with a comma. For example; *.exe, readme.txt, *.gif
Enable external processing when permitted. Select this option to have the external process execute when the action is successful.
Enable external processing when denied. Select this option to have the external process execute when the user receives a permission denied when attempting to perform the specified action.
Executable. Enter the path and name of the program or batch file to be run when the event happens on the host. You can also click the Browse (...) button to select it from your local system.
Note: If you want to use a batch file, enter CMD.EXE in the Executable box, and in Arguments enter the full path to the batch file in quotes. Example: "c:\iftpsvc\run.bat"
Arguments. Enter any arguments that will be sent when the program is called.
%Event. Inserts the Rule type (available for rules in all categories.)
%Dir. Inserts the name of the directory created or attempting to be created (available only for folder creation rules.)
%File. Inserts the name of the file the action was attempted on (available for upload, download, and deletion rules.)
%ToFile. Inserts the new name of a file in a file rename attempt (only available in rename rules.)
%FmFile. Inserts the original name of a file in a file rename attempt (only available in rename rules.)
%User. Inserts the user ID of the user that attempted the action (available for rules of all types.)
%Status. Inserts whether the attempt was successful or not (available for rules in all types.)
Remote Rule Configuration
To give you the ability to remotely configure rules, you must select the Enable remote rule configuration option on the General System Settings dialog.
